Boat Modifications

This page details modifications users have applied to the Cape Cutter 19 and is split into several sections. Click on the section which is of interest and this will take you to the relevant section.

Accessory- An install such as a table, boat tent or swim ladder

Hull- Modification to the standard hull, such as a hatch modification!

Electrical- Electrical installation or installation of an electrical accessory such as a chart plotter, GPS or echo sounder

Sail Handling- Modification to sail handling which is the primary source of power of your Cape Cutter, such as clutches, mast hoops furling gear etc!

Outboard Modifications-  Modification to the Iron Topsail, such as tiller handle extensions etc!

Trailer Modifications- Modification to the Cape Cutter 19 Trailer to improve trailing or launching

Mast Raising Techniques- Modifications for ease of raising the Cape Cutter 19 Mast!

Installation Of Table In Cockpit and Cabin using "Lagun" Table Mount

The Lagun table mount is a great way of mounting a table in both the cockpit and cabin of a small boat like the Cape Cutter 19, and stows away very easily.

Hatch Modification

Some Cape Cutter 19's have had problems in the past with leaking hatches. This had led David Peck to design a simple modification to resolve this issue, which has been passed to the manufacturer. Full details of this modification are detailed in the document below and is actually very easy to carry out.

Solar Powered Laptop Installation

Netbooks with advanced power management and low cost are no longer the preserve of larger boats. They can be used to run chart plotting software, tidal prediction software, as well as being able to be used to watch a dvd film (a bonus for children on wet days!), pick up mail and view advanced weather forecasts (subject to Internet Access!)
